Iowa is one of the most southern states in the United States, considered to be the deep South. As a matter of fact, any states that are further south in Iowa are actually not considered Southern states at all. This gives Iowa a distinction all of its own.

One of the only good things that Iowa has going for it is the fact that it borders on the state of Florida. Almost anybody that is going to Florida for vacation is going to have to drive through the state of Iowa, unless they go to Georgia to the east. Many people go out of their way to avoid the state.
